Wherever you seek your answer, this is the wrong question to ask yourself. We are not individually selected to endure specific trials and tribulations set forth on a concrete path one must directly follow to their fated destiny. I do believe every being on this planet is a unique individual, capable of skill sets, gifts, or talents pertaining to their personality that may or may not be bestowed to others, but we are all one life energy.
Religions and spiritual practices around the world often agree on this “oneness” of the individual soul and the spirit of a divine source. I also happen to believe that we all have a journey to take, but whether or not it is successful for your desires, is based on the choices you exercise with free will, and what you hold to be true of yourself and your future.
The progressive question you should be asking is, "who am I"? The answer being found in the spiritual connection you have with your existence. Regardless of individual beliefs, one needs to have a spiritual synchrony with their “higher power” to find solutions to their lives inside themselves. The life energy that we share with all the cosmos is beyond powerful. We can move this energy with our actions, emotions, and thoughts. The idea that the human mind can manipulate this energy has been seen in many ideologies over time. The Law of Attraction, the Law of Three, Karma; all these are examples of humanly energized ‘cause and effect’ life laws that have been widely accepted.
A person forms ideas and perspectives of themself by believing fleeting experiences to be facts of life and in doing so, become engulfed by a reality they created through their physical, mental, and emotional reactions to the world and its other inhabitants. Like the tortoise and the hare... one may seem to have many advantages in the game of life, while another is set up for failure. But, as we know in the end, the hare’s ego and folly caused nothing but loss, while the tortoise's determined persistence carried him to a success he could have only dreamed of.
Accepting obstacles, one encounters as predetermined tests and hardships you are destined to endure, is a life sentence of disappointments and dissatisfaction. If we accept our obstacles as things to overcome that's just what they’ll be; parts of the journey, we pass through and grow from with our choices and actions.
Mindful Minute:
- Do you have a higher power or spiritual belief of any form?
- How often do you practice your beliefs?
- How often do you study or know the origins of your beliefs?
- Do you connect with your practice fully and understand the meaning and intent behind your practices?
- How confident and secure in your beliefs?
- If for any reason you are participating in a spiritual practice that makes you uncomfortable or feel wrong, why do you think this is?
